‘Chicken Cha Cha: I Have Constipation!’ Wins Coveted Royal Dragonfly Book Award

CHANDLER, AZ (November, 2014) – The judges of the Royal Dragonfly Book Awards contest, which recognizes excellence in literature, have spoken, and Chicken Cha Cha: I Have Constipation! by Anna Phang (illustrated by Debbi P.), won Second place in the CHILDREN’S PICTURE BOOKS 5 & YOUNGER category.

“Winning any place in the Royal Dragonfly Contest is a huge honor because in order to maintain the integrity of the Dragonfly Book Awards, a minimum score is required before a First or Second place or Honorable Mention will be awarded to the entrant – even if it is the sole entry in a category,” explains Linda Radke, president of Five Star Publications, the sponsor of the Dragonfly Book Awards. “Competition is steep, too, because there is no publication date limit as long as the book is still in print.”

Chicken Cha Cha: I Have Constipation! is a cute book that discusses about a real-life issue that is not an easy subject to talk about to kids. It retails for S$18.08 and can be purchased at major bookstores in Singapore, https://www.facebook.com/chickenchacha and https://chickenchacha.wordpress.com/. Book Review by Joy Hannabass – I Have Constipation

chicken cha cha children picture book 25 star for chicken cha cha book I dont want to wash my hands

Reviewed By Joy Hannabass for Readers’ Favorite (5 Stars)

The cast of characters in Chicken Cha Cha – I have Constipation! by Anna Phang is Cha Cha, Fi Fi and Cha Cha’s mother, Sofie, and Mr. Beaver. One day, Cha Cha’s friends came over to play and his mother called for him while he was in the bathroom. When he came out, they all went out to play, but Cha Cha didn’t feel like playing. His friends started asking all kinds of questions, but Cha Cha didn’t want to tell them what the problem was. Finally after they kept bugging him, Cha Cha told them he had a problem called constipation and it was making him feel sick! He was surprised to find out that his friends said they’ve had the same problem sometimes, too. They really wanted to help their friend, so they all put their heads together to come up with things that would help. They thought of several things like juices, fiber, vegetables and fruits, and exercising. Cha Cha was willing to try anything to help. Do you think Cha Cha’s friends suggested the right choices?

This is a very cute little book, and it was very different from any I have read before. The main character had a problem with constipation. Though this is not an easy subject to talk about to kids, I think this book would be an awesome help to kids. Reading Chicken Cha Cha – I have Constipation! to your child before constipation occurs could keep your little ones from being afraid when this happens to them. Because we all know that it will happen at one time or another. And I love the cute illustrations that go with the story perfectly.

Let’s “go green” and add fibre in our diet!

It’s so yummy, you can eat this as lunch on it’s own, or as a side dish. Fast to cook, great to eat!

There’s a variety of cooking method for a plate of veggie, the following is one of the fastest and easiest (and laziest) method.

Recipe for Simple Chinese Vegetable – Cai Xin 油菜
Ingredients:
1. chopped garlic (you can fry them if you have the time)
2. sesame oil
3. soy sauce
4. Cai Xin 菜心/Choy Sum (amount – your preference, you can use other types of vegetables too)

Recipe for Cai Xin
1. Cut and wash vegetable, Cai Xin in this case.
2. Blanch Cai Xin in boiling water for about 30 seconds.
2. Assemble the Cai Xin in a bowl/plate and drizzle with sesame oil, soy sauce and sprinkle with some chopped garlic.

Bon Appetit!
