‘Chicken Cha Cha: I Have Constipation!’ Wins Coveted Royal Dragonfly Book Award

CHANDLER, AZ (November, 2014) – The judges of the Royal Dragonfly Book Awards contest, which recognizes excellence in literature, have spoken, and Chicken Cha Cha: I Have Constipation! by Anna Phang (illustrated by Debbi P.), won Second place in the CHILDREN’S PICTURE BOOKS 5 & YOUNGER category.

“Winning any place in the Royal Dragonfly Contest is a huge honor because in order to maintain the integrity of the Dragonfly Book Awards, a minimum score is required before a First or Second place or Honorable Mention will be awarded to the entrant – even if it is the sole entry in a category,” explains Linda Radke, president of Five Star Publications, the sponsor of the Dragonfly Book Awards. “Competition is steep, too, because there is no publication date limit as long as the book is still in print.”

Chicken Cha Cha: I Have Constipation! is a cute book that discusses about a real-life issue that is not an easy subject to talk about to kids. It retails for S$18.08 and can be purchased at major bookstores in Singapore, https://www.facebook.com/chickenchacha and https://chickenchacha.wordpress.com/. The cast of characters in Chicken Cha Cha – I have Constipation! by Anna Phang is Cha Cha, Fi Fi and Cha Cha’s mother, Sofie, and Mr. Beaver. One day, Cha Cha’s friends came over to play and his mother called for him while he was in the bathroom. When he came out, they all went out to play, but Cha Cha didn’t feel like playing. His friends started asking all kinds of questions, but Cha Cha didn’t want to tell them what the problem was. Finally after they kept bugging him, Cha Cha told them he had a problem called constipation and it was making him feel sick! He was surprised to find out that his friends said they’ve had the same problem sometimes, too. They really wanted to help their friend, so they all put their heads together to come up with things that would help. They thought of several things like juices, fiber, vegetables and fruits, and exercising. Cha Cha was willing to try anything to help. Do you think Cha Cha’s friends suggested the right choices?

This is a very cute little book, and it was very different from any I have read before. The main character had a problem with constipation. Though this is not an easy subject to talk about to kids, I think this book would be an awesome help to kids. Reading Chicken Cha Cha – I have Constipation! to your child before constipation occurs could keep your little ones from being afraid when this happens to them. Because we all know that it will happen at one time or another. And I love the cute illustrations that go with the story perfectly.

Book Review by Joy Hannabass – I Don’t Want to Wash My Hands

Chicken Cha Cha didn’t believe in germs, so he didn’t think it was necessary to wash his hands during the day, no matter what he did. But then Chicken Cha Cha got really sick and had to stay in bed and take medicine while his friends FiFi and Sophie were outside playing. The reason Chicken Cha Cha got sick was because he played outside, went to the bathroom, sneezed all over everything, played with the dog, and other things, all without washing his hands. And the germs from all of this made him sick. Do you wash your hands each time you touch things that have germs? Do you think Chicken Cha Cha learned his lesson about hand-washing?

Chicken Cha Cha – I Don’t Want to Wash My Hands by Anna Phang is the cutest book with a very important and valuable lesson about the need to always wash your hands. The characters are adorable, and I love the exciting and fun illustrations by Debbi P. The bright colors and expressions on the faces of the children as they played will capture the attention of any child. And the special thing about this book is that children will love reading it, or having it read to them, and they will listen to the cute little characters and will want to follow their advice. I think this book is so well worth the money because children will learn the valuable lesson of hygiene and cleanliness. This would be a fantastic book for any classroom of small children, and what fun teachers will have reading this story to their class and acting out these characters. I highly recommend Chicken Cha Cha – I Don’t Want to Wash My Hands by Anna Phang.
